Thursday, 9/26 Throwback Thursday -- dress up in your favorite retro style from the past. Homecoming Parade -- 5:30 pm – Assemble at Holy Cross Church parking lot. 5:45 pm – Judging of Floats. 6:00 pm – Parade route: Main Road to Alta Road, then to the High School. Community Pep Rally 6:45 pm – assemble at the Track and meet our Homecoming Court and members of our fall sports teams. Best Float award will be given out. Homecoming Party – 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm – grades 9-12 in the Courtyard. Homecoming Dance – 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm – grades 7 & 8 in the Cafeteria. September 19, 2024 To: Hanover Area Community, As you know, the District embarked upon a project to improve and update Memorial Stadium for the betterment of our students, staff and the community. While relying on the expertise of construction and lead abatement professionals, conditions arose beyond the District's control which necessitated a clean-up of lead dust at the field and its facilities. Despite exhaustive daily efforts to remediate the conditions at the field, it appears that clean-up and restoration efforts will require more time. In an effort to ensure the safety of our students, staff and the community, the Superintendent and Board of Directors, after consultation with lead abatement experts and construction professionals, has determined that a full remodel and restoration of the locker room facilities may be necessary to fully ensure the safety and well-being of all. Unfortunately, this unexpected reality will mean no home games will be played this year. The Superintendent and Board of Directors look forward to and are committed to making every effort to providing this District with a more modem, remodeled and, most importantly, safe environment for all for next season while we endeavor to hold those responsible for this situation. A community message from our Superintendent: August 7, 2024 Dear Community, The purpose of this correspondence is to notify the Hanover Area School District community about a current situation with which we are dealing. As you may be aware, the District has undertaken a project to repaint the home bleachers at Memorial Stadium. A portion of that project involved the removal of existing paint and prime - of which at least one layer contained lead. The process of removing the lead paint layer involved chemical and abrasive means. While conducting the abrasive means of removal it was discovered that lead containing dust migrated into the areas below the bleacher system. We are currently working with an environmental professional and contractor to determine the level of contamination and process for proper remediation. The work zone has been restricted and, in an abundance of caution, the football program has been relocated to the High School athletic complex. We will provide additional information as it becomes available. There is no reason to believe that any staff, students, athletes, coaches or the community were in contact with the contamination.
