Many new initiatives have been put in place for the 2007-2008 school year. These initiatives have been implemented through a team approach by all staff involved with students. Below are some of the changes you will see taking place this year.

Elementary Grades 3-6:

  • New schedule for all students 4th-6th – more time for reading, math, science (ability grouping in the morning)
  • Integration of special needs students into the curriculum (reading & science) with support/co-teaching
  • Additional supplemental reading (rather than replacement reading) in afternoon
  • Efficient use of all staff as a team (regular, Title I, Special Ed., etc.)

All Grades K-12:

  • Aligning curriculum to the standards
  • Paralleling LS curriculum to regular education curriculum – consistency/continuum
  • Staff development in differentiated instruction strategies and co-teaching
  • Co-teaching between regular education annd special education staff
