2009-2010 Activities
The Leo Club will be attempting to sponsor a Dog Show! There will be various competition categories. We are looking at a Saturday in October. There will be more information to come. We are planning to have the State Prison Dog Team and seeing eye dog information. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the vision impaired.
•Students participate in homecoming activities and build a club float with a slogan for the homecoming parade.
•Leo Club members work with the Lions Club to collect money for the blind at local churches. (White Cain Day)
•Feed-A-Friend starts October 30th and continues through November 20th. This is a very important fundraiser in which the club asks students and teachers to participate in donating non-perishable foods to families that are less fortunate. Winning homerooms receive prizes for their participation.
•In November the students will be working with members of the Lions Club decorating the Christmas trees along Carey Ave and the Sans Souci Parkway
•The Leo Club will also be working with the Marines in Toys For Tots.
•On December 22nd, the club members will visit the Hampton House and participate with the residents in providing Christmas Cheer and giving christmas gifts.
•The Leo Club will sponsor a kick ball tournament. This is a new activity that will hopefully promote friendly competition between student teams and become one of our new winter fundraisers.
•In recognition of Dr. Seuss's birthday, members of the club will visit the elementary schools and read Dr. Seuss stories and perform small skits for the younger students.
•The club collects used eyeglasses that are given to members of the community in need.
•Every month the Leo Club gives a 25 dollar gift to the student of the month for their accomplishment and hard work. The gift is presented at the monthly schoolboard meeting.
•During the month of December the Leo Club will sponsor a "Christmas tree of treats" where students can win nice prizes for the holiday.
•We collect and recycle used cell phones and ink cartridges all year. Contact Mr. Gavlick or any member for details.
•Last year the Leo Club awarded 3 scholarships to the senior officers. Recognized 10 students for "student of the month" gifts. Gave the Presidents award for service and 100% Leo Club President award.
The Leo Club is very involved throughout the school year. These are just some of the major activities the kids participate in. Keep checking back to the website for updated information.
If ever any club or group within Hanover Area is in need of help, the Leo Club is always there.
